Westley Richards Round Action Sidelocks. A Set of Three 20g Game Guns.

I didn't want the makers name so big on the actions, I remember that being my first thought when they came back from engraving, that it could have been half the size it was, just there but subtle. Besides that point I have always thought these to be a superb set of guns, traditional engraving and case colour, beautiful matched wood with superb figure and colour all combined with the sleek and racy lines of our round action sidelock.

This set of guns with their single triggers would suit me very nicely and I think if I had my time again I would probably start to make myself a set. I imagine though, that like every other rifle or pair of guns I have started over the last 30 years my customers would come first and I would never actually get them!

I can't really explain how wonderful I think this guns is.Wood ,engraving ,colour hardening and the lines, once more have the team at Westley Richards produced something more beautiful than I've ever thought was possible .One maybe stupid question is -The stocks on these guns is it from the same blank or have you been able to find three nearly identical pieces?
    Best regards

Thank You! The wood came from the same tree. Ideally the 3 blanks would come as 3 slices of bread if that makes sense. The tree the wood is cut from has to have the very similar figure through the 3 blanks and that way you get a similar figure on the next blank, cutting through the figure so the left of one blank matches the right of the next door blank etc. Rare but possible!! (and expensive of course!)

As Peter stated, the grain matching is quite phenomenal! A beautiful set of guns, indeed. Is it possible to integrate the WR top lever on this action?

No it doesn't work in this gun.

Lovely guns Simon, really lovely. I sort of sympathise.......well, only a bit, with a man who is MD of the country's finest gunmaker and cannot find a way to get something for himself. What has happened to the plastic stocked "creation" you posted about a while ago?

    Keep up the great work.
