description
Boss & Co. 12g single trigger sidelock ejector circa 1909. Single trigger, square bodied, 7 pin action with gold line cocking indicators, engraved with the house, 5 rose bouquet and scroll coverage. New barrels made by Boss in 1972 choked 1/4 in the right and 3/4 in the left with 2 1/2" chambers and a concave game rib engraved 'BOSS & CO LTD, 13-14 CORK STREET, LONDON W1' . Beautifully figured, replacement stock measures 15 1/4" to centre with a drop of 1 7/16" at the comb and 2 3/8" at the heel, cast off 5/16" at the heel, with a gold stock oval, replacement splinter forend with push rod release. Cased in a compact, lightweight leather case with accoutrements. The trigger is a swept trigger, based on the provisional patent No. 11400 of 31st May 1905 and John Robertson's theory that a trigger is pulled to the back and to the side rather than straight back, therefore the trigger is swept and pulled obliquely.
