Westley Richards .470 3 1/4" NE Best Quality Hand Detachable Lock Double Rifle completed circa 2015. Square back action is fitted with Westley's iconic hand detachable locks, Model 'C' Doll's Head and Snap Lever work with two triggers and a manual safety. The guard bow extends to the grip cap and the triggers are cast for a right hand shooter. Traditional finish with color hardened action body and blacked furniture and cover plate. The rifle was also made with an extra pair of hand detachable locks. 

Traditional "Best Quality" engraving style with the house's small English scroll and the Maker's name inlayed in gold a flowing banner on each side and a very realistic game scene cameo of a mud caked bull Cape buffalo with an oxpecker on his back. The scene is surrounded by supporting small English scroll. The word "SAFE" and the rifle's serial number are also inlaid in gold.  

The barrels are 25" and fitted with W.R.&Co. pattern full length top rib with raised quarter rib and front sight base. Rear sight is 1 standing/1 folding Express sight (50, 100 yds) and the sights are engraved with their respective distance and gold triangle on the standing sight and a gold line on the folding leaf. Front sight is Westley's combination foresight with flip-up night sight and rear-folding sight hood. Maker's name, cartridge, and regulation are inlaid in gold on top of the rib and barrels. 

Exhibition quality walnut stock with a 14 1/2" LOP over a leather covered pad, a right-hand shadow line cheekpiece, and a full pistol grip with grip trap cap. A modern sling eye and stock oval, engraved WEC JR, are on the stock's toe line. Splinter forend has the maker's traditional horn forend tip, and Westley's patented Deeley forend latch, and ejector box. 

The rifle was completed in 2015 and has made one hunt since. The color hardening on the left side of the receiver is quite faded and there is a thin spot in the barrel black, at the breech, on the same side. This was caused from the customer carrying the rifle over his shoulder on his hunt. Most of the original color hardening remains on the right side and the rifle's original black, overall, is in very good condition. 

Stock shows some handling marks, but is also in far better condition than one hunt would suggest.

Complete in its Maker's mid-tan lightweight leather case lined in green alcantara and simple accessories. The extra pair of locks are included in the traditional faux alligator case with the Maker's name embossed in gilded lettering and fit into their own dedicated compartment within the case.
