We are, naturally, quite excited about these early iterations of our new Woodward-type over & under guns. They are the first examples of our new model and the first over & unders we have built since discontinuing the Ovundo. They represent the future of Westley Richards game guns for sportsmen and collectors whose preference is for an over & under.
We have not re-invented the wheel to bring this model to market but we have refined it and made it the best wheel that can be bought.
Emerging from the bold, relief-carved, foliate scrolls are American game birds and waterfowl. Each one is highlighted in gold and individually carved, with woodcock and quail on either lock plate and ducks on the underside of the bar.
The gold birds contrasts dramatically with the polished steel and black background and blend harmoniously with the scroll-work.
The man tasked with engraving this special build was Florian Gullert, and he has exceeded all expectations to create a truly show-stopping effect, giving the gun a three-dimensional appearance, with depth and texture that flows with the shapes of the action and lock plates.
The graduated lettering of 'WESTLEY RICHARDS' on the scrolling banners either side of the radius, where the action is subtly bolstered, gives the appearance of a flag fluttering in the breeze.
The engraving theme extends to the furniture, with matching forend finial and heel and toe plates for the butt.
This is the first 20-bore over & under of the new series and we are excited to take it to the next stage. It will be exquisite when all the work is completed.

Hats off to the engraver, he has done a stunning job engraving the very first 20g Westley new style. Also to the action filer the lines are beautiful on this action!!!!! This gun will be stunning when complete. Congrats to the Westley Team. Dare I say starting with the genius of Trigger!!! lol
