Westley Richards Two Barrel Configured Detachable Barrel Rifle

The popularity of our detachable barrel magazine rifles never seems to wane. For sheer practicality when travelling it still holds court and has a loyal following with Westley Richards. Truth is we were producing detachable barrel rifles over 100 years ago and so the tradition is a continuation of that heritage.

For the all round hunter who may occasionally shoot thick skinned dangerous game it has to be said that the calibre choice of .300 Winchester Magnum and .375 Holland & Holland Magnum makes perfect sense. Each calibre is iconic in its own right, with the .375 Holland claiming to be the father of all belted magnums, including the .300 Winchester, which is based on the same case. To anyone familiar with this blog, neither cartridge should require any introduction as they constantly show a presence in our order book.

Simplicity combined with attention to detail in the finishing make for an understated yet beautiful rifle. Most pre-war vintage magazine rifles were built with the same standards in mind.

Whilst these current climes have proved frustrating for many a hunter there is no harm in planning for the future and getting ready for the next great hunting adventure. Certainly when things calm down we can all expect to be on the happy hunting trail and whether in North America, Africa, Asia or the South Pacific, the compactness and versatility of this rifle will without question come into its own.

Built in .300 Winchester Magnum and .375 Holland & Holland Magnum calibre, this detachable barrel rifle can travel practically anywhere and take any species of big game.

The push down barrel catch has characteristics of our Deeley catch as found on the double guns and rifles that we build.

The final compact package is understated, yet practical. The rolled stitched edge case is a classic of Westley Richards and can be found dating back to the early 1900's.

Whether for the discerning collector or the avid sportsman, Westley Richards firearms represent the epitome of excellence in the world of bespoke gunmaking. Known for the droplock shotgun, over and under shotgundouble barrel rifle and bolt action rifle, the company has achieved an illustrious 200 year history of innovation, craftmanship and artistry. As part of our best gun build, clients can choose from three levels of gun engraving: the house scroll; signature game scenes; and exhibition grade masterpieces. All Westley Richards sporting arms are built at their factory in Birmingham, England. Discover more about the gunmaking journey at our custom rifles and bespoke guns pages.

    Trigger
An absolutely wonderful takedown rifle !
I am suitably impressed with the new lever to detach the barrel. I wasn’t a fan of the lever on the side of the forearm as on previous examples I’ve seen.
I think we spoke about this when I was at the factory a couple of years ago!

Guess we will now have to talk seriously about one……
    425 and 318 perhaps?

    Cheers

The best combination would be 416 Remington and 8 mm Remington.

416 Remington and 8 mm Remington would be the perfect combination.
