Lovely Vintage Westley Richards 10g Shotgun
As a once keen wildfowler it is always nice to see one of the vintage big bore guns built by Westley Richards. In this instance we have a lovely 10g, 3" chambered, 32" barrelled Anson & Deeley fixed lock shotgun that was completed in 1886 for J.Palmer O'Neil & Co. of Pittsburgh, USA. This company clearly acted as an agent for Westley Richards and retailed guns, rifles, revolvers, ammunition, fishing tackle and other sportsmens goods. A gun almost identical to this illustrates the front cover of one of their early catalogues.

Good Day Trigger,
The hunter that used this gun should have had the nick name THOR!!!!! A good hit with this beast must have been like being hit with a big hammer for a bird.
Very interesting gun Trigger, most gun buyers these days seem to want the small frame gun. Thanks for the Pictures and story!!! Be well
In Christ

Beautiful gun!
I always find it fun to look through these old catologues… Here is a copy of the J. Palmer book a few years prior to this gun… and guess what’s on the cover!

Just fabulous, used but by the look of it never abused, this is the type of gun you want to pick up immediately without any fears of damaging it, go out on the marshes and margins in the appropriate season, use it, enjoy it, bring it safely home and treasure it.
I can only imagine the sheer pleasure of owning such a wonderful gun.
Best regards. Peter.
