    Hi Simon-

Congratulations on all the positive press your guns are receiving. I've seen a couple of your new boxlocks, and they are beautiful guns.

I have a couple question for you about your droplocks:

-Why do you use a fixed hinge pin in their actions?

-How do you compensate for any wear that may occur in the pin-hook connection?

-Would it be possible to build a droplock with a removable hinge pin -- maybe one with caps on the action like I've seen on some sidelocks?

Thank you for your time and for your great blog.

      A. Because that is the design of the Droplock and has been since its creation, we have made a lot of these and many original ones are still in use. I assume you feel a fixed pin is perhaps not adequate?

-How do you compensate for any wear that may occur in the pin-hook connection?

In a similar manner as carried out by most gunmakers on most guns!

-Would it be possible to build a droplock with a removable hinge pin — maybe one with caps on the action like I’ve seen on some sidelocks?

We build the droplock gun and a sidelock gun so I suppose if the hinge pin is a concern we offer both solutions! No, we cannot build the droplock with a removable pin.

      I hope this helps,

      Simon
