Westley Richards .700/.577 Hand Detachable Lock Double Rifle.

Some months ago I posted pictures of this rifle when it returned from Peter Spode and its time on the engravers bench. Now having been through the finishers workshop, the case colour hardeners, the barrel blackers, the range for final shooting and finally through the leather shop and case makers hands, the rifle is ready for delivery.

A stunning 'prehistoric' piece! Love it!

    Good Day Simon,

This is certainly a beautiful Double, I especially like the gentlemans imagination and vision of engraving. We as gun collectors struggle with fresh idea's in my humble opinion. I have looked at many great guns, there is certainly a theme to most guns. I think that is part of the reason that I like this gun so much. Not only does it show a fresh idea, it would take such a cartridge to take the likes of those beast. Mr. Spode's work is wonderful!!! Thanks for Sharing Sir...

    Congratulation to the new owner!!!

    In Christ

A lovely piece indeed Simon, the stuff of dreams for most but we can still delight in the pictures.

Can I ask how the .700/.577 round compares to the .700HH? Faster no doubt, but how does it affect recoil and rifle weight, I have handled the .700 but not shot it, and it was substantial, albeit beautifully balanced?
